A flexible spending account (FSA) is an employer- sponsored benefit account that allows you to set aside pre-tax funds to help pay for eligible healthcare expenses. An FSA is a great tool to help you pay for healthcare costs not covered by your health plan.

The bottom line: FSAs save you money. The contributions you make to an FSA are deducted from your pay check – before federal income, social security, and most state taxes. The end result is that you decrease your taxable income while increasing your healthcare-spendable income. FSAs help you:

  • Reduce taxable income – pre-tax contributions result in a lower taxable salary

  • Save on eligible healthcare expenses – Using pre-tax funds to pay healthcare expenses can save you hundreds

  • Offset rising healthcare costs and individual financial responsibilities

A dependent care FSA (DCA) is a flexible spending account that allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars for dependent care expenses. Since DCA contributions are deducted from your paycheck pre-tax, your taxable income is reduced. Participants enjoy a 30% average tax savings on their annual DCA contribution.

Eligible Expenses

  • Before school or after school care (other than tuition)

The advantages of our employee benefit programs are far too numerous to cover in this small space, a member services representative can explain the entire program at enrollment. This benefit requires payment of a small additional fee to our benefit administrator to cover the extensive service and support required of the managed funds. However, the benefits are a hundred times this small cost!
